My Journey as an Actress in Texas

Acting in Texas has been a journey full of growth, learning, and rediscovery for me. I began my acting career in Austin back in 2001, full of excitement and dreams. Like many actors, I started with community theater, student films, and passion projects that helped me hone my craft and build connections.

In 2014, after over a decade of steady work, I signed with my first agent, a big milestone that opened doors to bigger auditions and even extra work in Hollywood films and TV. Those on-set experiences, even as background talent, taught me invaluable lessons about professionalism, set etiquette, and storytelling.

Then in 2016, life shifted. I took a break from actively auditioning to focus on raising my daughter. But acting never left me. I kept studying, taking classes, attending workshops, and staying up-to-date with industry trends. I also stayed creatively active by writing for a comedy sketch show and a mystery radio program, which helped me sharpen my performance skills in new ways.

Now that my break is over, I’m diving back into the vibrant Texas acting scene. I attend networking events, take classes, and eagerly audition for theater, film, TV, and commercial roles around Austin. I love how Texas embraces actors at all levels, and how local projects offer opportunities without the pressure to move to Los Angeles or New York.

What I’ve learned is this: the path of an actor isn’t always linear. Breaks happen, priorities shift, but the passion stays. Staying connected, training consistently, and building relationships are what keep us moving forward.

If you’re new, returning, or somewhere in between, know that your journey is valid. Keep learning, keep showing up, and don’t be afraid to create your own opportunities here in Texas.
